July, 2006: Honorees like
Paul Newman (Ohio) and astronaut Leroy Chiao (UC Berkeley) will be inducted into a “Centennial Hall of Fame“ as will some of our own alumni:. To date,
the following Gamma Omicron Alumni have been nominated and accepted into

Ernest Becker (Dean Emeritus, CSUF )was the Dean of Students at CSUF from it’s founding in 1959 until his retirement in 1977. Becker WAS the Student Affairs
office at first; he typed the first class schedule, began the first student newspaper and created the school mascot, Tuffy. In 1962, he helped students stage
“The First Intercollegiate Elephant Race". In 1960 Becker helped found the CSUF Greek system and served as the first Chapter Advisor of Sigma Phi Omega
local fraternity, which later became today‘s Phi Kappa Tau. Dr Becker passed away in 1998. Becker Amphitheater on the CSUFcampus is named in his memory.
William O’Malley Jr. (Internationally Recognized Defense Consultant) Bill was initiated in Spring 1966 and earned his BA from CSUF in 1967, at whichtime he
entered the US Army, becoming an Intelligence Officer. His military education included learning the Russian language, which led to a post-Cold War assignment
working alongside ex-KGB agents in the former Soviet Union, researching US POW/MIA’s whereabouts. After his military retirement he worked for RAND as a Senior
Analyst, often with US State Department officials including the Secretary of State. He is considered an expert on Eurasia, and now consults on behalf the Center
for Civil-Military Relations to countries like Estonia, Kurdistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Kazakhstan and Hungary. Bill met his wife Gayle
while at CSUF, and they now live in Anaheim Hills. Their son Sean is also a member of GO Chapter.
