Greek Week 2006

APRIL, 2006: The  Gamma Omicron Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau, competed in CSUF’s annual Greek Week from April 19 -23. This event has been a CSU Fullerton event for the last 20 years with proceeds going  towards CampTitan.  Each year the Greek system comes together to compete in sporting events, spirit and theme  competitions, and raises money for CampTitan  The chapter was paired with Gamma Phi Beta sorority this year, and our Theme was “New York City”  We competed in Basketball on Thursday, Tug on Friday (where we placed 3rd) , Softball on Saturday (where we placed 3rd) and a  Lipsync competition on Sunday (which we placed 1st).The Chapter raised the equivalent of $2,000 in canned food and monetary donations for CampTitan. On Sunday night at the Awards Banquet, members were sitting on pins and needles.  Phi  Kappa Tau ended up winning, 1st place in costume, 2nd place in spirit, 3rd place in chalk murals, and took home the coveted  Theme Banner (meaning 1st place in Theme), the Fundraising Banner (we donated more then any other fraternity on campus) and the Overall Banner (Overall #1 in points for the entire week) This is an accomplishment Gamma Omicron hasn’t seen in nearly 5 years.  The last time the Gamma Omicron Chapter has won a Banner for Greek Week was in 2002, which was the Theme Banner Only   It is rumored that the last time the Gamma Omicron Chapter has won the Overall  banner was 1992.  And this year Gamma Omicron took home 3  Banners. Over the entire Week, the Gentlemen of Phi Kappa Tau truly represented the spirit of brotherhood. For five days straight, they were supporting the sports  teams, cheering on other fraternities and sororities, and truly living what  embodies the best of being a member of Phi Kappa Tau. To see this only made me  prouder to be the president of a truly amazing group of Gentlemen. Never in my  time in the fraternity have I ever seen this type of motivation and dedication. This brought our members together, and truly made our chapter stronger. Congratulations are truly in order. (Article by Matt Della Mora, Chapter President)
