The “GO Sheet”, the first Chapter newsletter, was started in 1967. In typical over-ambitious, naive-college-guy style, GO Sheet was published weekly (Yup... WEEKLY) and distributed to all alumni and chapter members. To really put this in perspective, we’re not talking about “word processed” (unless you count manual Smith Corona typewriters as “word processors”..). Nor was there photocopier technology. Nope, GO Sheet was produced using “DittoMasters” and a “Ditto Machine”......the same media that Professors used for copying Tests (remember the “dumpster” scene in Animal House?) It’s not surprising that the weekly GO Sheet only lasted about 18 months, since it was a lot of work to produce so frequently and at such “high levels of quality”. A few years later (early 1970s) a follow-on newsletter, the Barnstorm , was published (see the 1970s section for examples) but at a more civil frequency (monthly). Here, on these pages, in all of it’s shades-of-purple, Ditto-Master glory, are some back issues of the GO Sheet, which provide a glimpse of Chapter life in the late 1960’s, Click on a button below to see a GO Sheet issue. (Thanks to Ed Homola, Spring ‘66 for providing these “artifacts”....) |
