Over 90 Attend 2001 Founder’s Day Events

On a warm Saturday,  March 17th, the 3rd Annual Founder’s Day Golf Tourney and BBQ was held at Birch Hills Golf Course in Brea and at the Barn in Fullerton. Phi Tau’s from Georgia Tech (Rhett Finch, an undergrad working in the LA area for the semester) and CSULB joined Fullerton Chapter members and alumni for the day. All golfers were given baseball caps with the “Barn” logo embroidered on them . Chapter members, led by Alex Partida (Alumni Relations Chair) helped on the course by measuring the 3 “Closest to the Pin” and the Longest Drive holes, raising $595 for their Scholarship/Leadership fund. Prizes for the winning golfers were donated by the Phi Kappa Tau Foundation (Bethany Dienes), encouraged by Domain Director Tom Tinker, and included Phi Tau History books, pennants, paperweights and bookmarks. Also donating items were Phil Kunisch (F66), Rockey Myers (S64); Mark Kenny (CSULB alum). Approximately $700 was raised from the event to keep publishing the GO Gazette. Special thanks to active chapter members, led by Alex Partida, Alumni relations Chair, who helped measure for the contests on the course. Also helping were Dennis Blake (use of phones), Rod Howorth (F60), Jack Hale (F60), Brian Clark (S77), Eric Doeding (F96), Scott Sorenson(F80), who helped with phone calling and other organization tasks for this event.
